Health in Mind Students Promote Mental Wellbeing in Schools
Health in Mind student advocates are organizing a range of in-school activities this year to help spread mental health knowledge and promote mental wellbeing, social inclusion and re-integration.
More than 50 in-school activities will be held, including drama, slogan writing, singing and shirt design competitions and talks on mental health. All these activities will have a mental health theme.
Volunteer services also play a major role in the Health in Mind programme. The activities will include visits to outdoor centres such as the Wetland Park and Mai Po marshes.
Thirty volunteer activities will be held this year.
"Volunteer services have proven to be an effective means of changing students' attitudes towards people with mental illness," explained Francis Woo, Senior Nursing Officer (Psychiatric) of Hospital Authority - Kwai Chung Hospital. "They promote social inclusion and re-integration. We often find that the students who participate in these activities become much more confident about involving themselves with people with mental health problems."
