City Orienteering 2007
On 20th January, 2007, student advocates participating in the Health in Mind programme and service users of the Castle Peak and Kwai Chung hospitals enjoyed a special excursion visit around the city of Hong Kong accompanied by social workers, Jardine Ambassadors and friends of ambassadors.

A joint function co-organized by Jardine Ambassadors' Education and Prevention and Re-integration groups, the trip had two objectives. One was to provide the service users with an opportunity to rejoin the community, practice their long deprived skills of planning, time management, budget allocation and decision making, and to re-familiarize themselves with transportation facilities. The second was to help the student advocates to learn how to take care of the under-privileged and to encourage them to promote a positive message with regard to the importance of social inclusion and de-stigmatization of mental illness.

The 250 participants were divided into 54 teams of four to six people with each team given certain tasks to complete within a set budget and timeline. These included finding designated checkpoints such as the Space Museum, History Museums, Avenue of Stars and shopping malls, to buying a healthy lunch, choosing a gift for someone special, and purchasing a plant at the flower market.

"When I was at the Avenue of Stars, I was totally immersed in the beautiful surroundings, sunshine and breeze. This is what I always dream of when I am in the hospital," said one of the service users.

One of the students summed up the success of the day's activities with "It has changed my attitude to and given me a better understanding of people suffering from mental illness".

Donation of Chinese Sausages and Bread Making Workshop
The Jardine Ambassadors and the service users of the Caritas Jockey Club Lai King Rehabilitation Centre were having fun together on 3rd March 2007. Caritas arranged a bread making workshop to teach participants how to make egg tart and crab-shaped bread. The participants then practiced cautiously without believing that what they made were edible until the final products came out fresh from the oven.

In this same occasion, the Jardine Ambassadors handed 200 packages of Chinese sausages donated by Maxim's to Caritas' service users.
