Emotion Management Workshop
A workshop focusing on Emotion Management was held on 3rd March 2007 to help Health in Mind students better understand the many changes in emotion experienced by human beings. Conducted by Rachel Poon, Senior Clinical Psychologist of Kwai Chung Hospital, the workshop explained the importance of emotion managment and the different elements of emotion. Students also learnt to understand more about the fluctuations of their own emotion through reflective exercises and interactive role play. They experienced the impact of emotion under simulated situations and shared their views on how they could help their friends to overcome emotional problems.

Promoting Mental Well-being
Throughout the current academic year, student advocates participating in the 'Health In Mind' Programme have organized over 50 in-school activities to help spread mental health knowledge and to promote mental well-being to fellow students and their teachers.

Among the most recent was a 'Mental Health Week' established by one of the ten participating schools, CCC Kung Lee College, for the period from 12th to 17th December, 2006. Large posters and display boards on mental health-related topics and information on drug abuse served to remind fellow students of the importance of mental health and the adverse effects of drug abuse. Another participating school, Queen Elizabeth School organized a 'T-Shirt Design Competition' from 5th to 6th February, 2007 inviting fellow students to design t-shirts with themes to promote acceptance of people suffering from mental illness.

Volunteer Service - Promoting Support and Acceptance
Direct interaction with in-patients and rehabilitated patients through volunteer services has proven to be effective in changing students' attitude to people with mental problems. Led by Jardine Ambassadors, 14 student advocates of The Jockey Club Eduyoung College together with 40 service users of the Castle Peak Hospital organized a day out at the Tuen Mun Butterfly Beach Park on 5th February 2007 with the aim of enhancing interaction. In addition to a barbecue and playing games, students organized a sand piling activity with the theme of 'World Construction' to demonstrate teamwork and creativity. Structures like pyramids and castles were sculpted. This event not only brought joy and happiness to the patients, it also brought them a step closer to reintegrating back into society.
