Hongkong Land Introduces Central Rat Race to Support MINDSET
Hongkong Land is to introduce rat-racing to Central in Hong Kong's inaugural Rat Race 2006, a team-relay and obstacle-ridden contest based on the annual 'Rat Race' events in New York and Toronto. All proceeds from the event will go to MINDSET.

For the event which will take place in October, Hongkong Land will turn a large part of Central into a rat-track of some 2.5 kilometres, with aptly-named race sectors or legs, such as 'Fast Track', 'Job Maze', 'Corporate Ladder' and 'Watch your Back'. The humour-laced event will see Rat Race runners, dressed in business attire and carrying briefcases as batons, overcome obstacles as they dash around, much as is demanded by today's tough corporate environment. The final leg requires participants to sit on boardroom chairs on Chater Road while their partners push them to the finishing line.

"We are very pleased that MINDSET has been chosen as the beneficiary of the Rat Race," said Neil McNamara, Governor and Steering Committee Member of MINDSET. "This event will provide busy executives with an opportunity to have healthy fun in support of a worthwhile cause, and, importantly, help to promote the awareness of mental health issues in Hong Kong."

A maximum of 60 eight-member teams will be accepted for the event. In addition to the Rat Race, a senior executive from each participating team will be eligible to take part in the 'Big Rat Race', which covers a shorter route. Each team will be required to make a donation of HK$50,000 to MINDSET for the Rat Race with an additional HK$10,000 for the Big Rat Race.

Lantau Island Orientation Camp Prepares Jardine Ambassadors
Some 24 new Jardine Ambassadors along with current Ambassadors serving their second year of service attended an orientation camp on Lantau Island on 17th July in preparation for the forthcoming MINDSET programme.

Organized by Group Human Resources, the camp featured an intensive first day of creative team-building exercises. In addition, current Ambassadors from each of the three Ambassador groups - Education & Prevention, Re-integration and Fund-raising - spoke of their experiences in order to give the new Ambassadors a better understanding of their roles and expectations.

The second day started with strenuous physical exercises on the beach. This was followed by a detailed presentation from Michael Wong, Chief Education Officer at the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong who also led some thought-provoking interactive activities related to mental health and shared some of his valuable experiences of working with people with mental disorders.

By the end of the camp, the Ambassadors had successfully bonded with one another, strengthened their vision and mission, and were ready to tackle the new MINDSET programme for the year ahead.
