Jardine Ambassadors Programme
The Jardine Ambassadors Programme brings together young and enthusiastic executives from all parts of Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong including Hongkong Land, Dairy Farm, Mandarin Oriental, Jardine Motors Group and various companies within Jardine Pacific in a programme of personal development that benefits the community, the Group and the Ambassadors. Since 1982 it has embraced some 700 Jardines executives and raised more than HK$20 million for over 360 charitable projects, benefiting over 350,000 people. The programme also allows the Ambassadors to share their business expertise with the charitable organizations.
Since 2002 the Ambassadors Programme has been active in the mental health sector through MINDSET, the Group's in-house registered charity, which aims to make a difference in the area of mental health. Led by the Jardine Ambassadors, MINDSET channels the Group's activities towards supporting mental health-related organizations and projects, and aims to change people's attitudes by raising awareness and understanding of mental health issues, as well as supporting individuals, families and organizations in need of help.
Under MINDSET, the Ambassadors focus on the following areas:
- Education and Prevention - to raise awareness of mental health issues among young people through the in-school 'Health in Mind' programme, co-organized with the Hospital Authority since 2002. The programme currently covers ten secondary schools and has reached over 25,000 students, teachers and parents;
- Re-integration - to support effective re-integration services to mental health hospitals/agencies through patient support activities. MINDSET also promotes a job placement programme within Jardine Matheson Group companies that is designed to provide training opportunities to rehabilitated people;
- Community Awareness - to undertake a range of initiatives including fund raising activities that would enhance the community awareness on mental health related issues.
